Solar-powered 150 m borehole delivering 18 m³/hr for 12 acres of drip irrigation, with zero grid running costs.
The farm wanted to cut a KES 180,000 monthly diesel bill. We drilled to 150 m through lacustrine sediments using mud rotary, installed 8" uPVC casing and developed the well over two days.
The pumping system is a 7.5 kW solar submersible fed by a 12 kW PV array on galvanised ground mounts, with an MPPT controller and a grid changeover for cloudy days. The system fills a 100,000 L lined reservoir during daylight for night irrigation.
